In Match’n Catch you play as a Chameleon on the hunt. You need to color yourself close enough to the plants’ pattern to stay hidden from the insects that you try to catch so that you can keep going. How well can you match the pattern to catch as many insects as possible?
Match’n Catch was made as a submission for the Micro-Jam #043. In this Jam you have 48h to create a game working around the theme of “Colors” while adhering to the Prerequisite of “Player never stops moving”.
So we, Tobias Moshammer, Aaron McGuigan and me, set out to create a game where Colors was the main feature. Not just color coding attributes like damage types or using “my game is colorful” as an excuse. That’s how the chameleon idea came into being and through some more itterations in the planning phase we came up with a simple but exciting small game. Really happy with it.
For Match’n Catch I created the Code and Audio. Toby and Aaron worked on the Art for it. It was built in Godot in C# at first, but after the GameJam we changed it to GDScript, so that we could easily create a Webversion of the game.
